Ingredients

  • 1 tin of chickpeas

  • 3 tablespoons of sugar free cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon tahini

  • 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup or 2 chopped medjool dates

  • Cold water

You will need a blender or food processor to make this recipe.

Hummus doesn’t have to be savoury.Chocolate hummus is a delicious and healthy alternative to chocolate spread that’s full of protein.

Method

  1.  Drain and rinse the chickpeas.

  2. Put the chickpeas in your food processor or blender with 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, a tablespoon of tahini and 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup – or 2 chopped medjool dates

  3. Process until smooth – this will take longer if you’re using dates. Scrape the sides of your processor down with a spatula and process again

  4. Add 1-2 spoonfuls of cold water until you have the consistency that you like.

  5. Use as a dip with fruit or spread onto rice cakes. Why not make rice cake faces with your children like our mini chefs have done?
