Pantries Coordinator: Job opportunity

Are you passionate about making a difference to your local community? Do you believe everyone should have access to affordable, nutritious food?

Healthy Living Platform is recruiting a part-time Pantries Coordinator for 6 months to deliver and develop our Southwyck Pantry project in Brixton and to support and guide the setup of further Pantries at other sites in Lambeth.

The pantry model is a community cooperative where local people sign up to become members- they pay a recommended donation of £5 and can then choose a mixture of purchased and donated food at 20 items per visit, as well as become involved in the running of the pantry and make choices about the types of food that is sold.

Southwyck Pantry has been running on the Southwyck Estate in Brixton since December 2020, set up as part of a project to embed healthy food into the community and open up the community hall.

There are now over 80 Pantry Members and the pantry is staffed on the day by local volunteers.

Working at Southwyck gives you a great sense of community and ( a feeling you are ) having a positive impact - Chef at Southwyck House

So happy to see that the community hall is used in such a positive way- Pantry Volunteer
