Particularly interested in estates.. Hence Southwyck & Moorlands work - and work with Brixton Hub which is very much about enabling communities to use food as a way of starting neighbourly projects.
Food - should be the best food it can be - healthy/nutritional, sustainable (environmentally, economically)

LEAP into Healthy Living

We run a Food Ambassador training programme to give people food hygiene certificates and skills that they can use to cook in their communities and to help them get paid work
We encourage physical activities
Zumba, yoga - all on-line now, and family fitness classes
Walks - exploring new places
We are currently collecting wellies and
We encourage gardening and growing of food

LEAP into Healthy Living is a project for Lambeth Early Action Partnership, a 10 year Lottery funded programme to improve lives for children born into poverty in four of the borough’s most deprived wards. There are over 20 interventions that have been funded as part of that programme, and we are just one, but it is a significant part of the work. Our mission is make it easier for people to lead healthy lives, so we to do a few things:

Cookbook
We put coproduction at the heart of everything we do. We assume that everyone has something to offer which means we have a big team of local people sharing recipes, skills and ideas. Pre-Covid this was mainly in cook and eat sessions, but we have had to find new ways of working. We unlocked some new media talent with quite a few of our food ambassadors sharing their skills on-line, and tonight we are launching our first e-cookbook.

Becoming a charity
The objects of the Company are to facilitate and deliver activities for the Public Benefit which benefit the health & wellbeing of the community at large. This benefit is particularly but not exclusively for the Borough of Lambeth and is restricted to the following.

1.To use the advancement and promotion of community food projects to empower local communities and develop the capacity and skills of disadvantaged members of those communities in such a way that they are available to identify and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society. In addition, encouraging them to be more self-sustaining. Target people on low incomes, BAME, people with disabilities or long term conditions, young people, old people.

2.To preserve and protect the health of the public, encouraging healthy and sustainable lifestyles: including by the provision of practical training, education, information and support on nutrition, cookery, food growing, health, wellbeing, digital support and mindfulness. 3.To develop community food hubs to relieve food poverty in the greater community by the distribution of surplus food to those members of the community most in need at any point in time.

4.To develop a community kitchen that is open to all members of the community and will assist in the reduction of food poverty, through the production of meals, provision of cooking training and skills and discussion and information relating to healthy food and healthy living.

5. To offer and deliver excellent, flexible volunteering opportunities to people in the community, through induction, support, ongoing training, effective communication, and value
