
Healthy Living Platform is looking to recruit a Despatch and Volunteer Coordinator to oversee the despatch of meals and delivery volunteers from our Healthy Living Kitchen in Brixton. They will also oversee the rota of volunteers for the kitchen and assist with the logistics of general kitchen management.
The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated, organised and able to manage a range of administrative and logistical tasks effectively.
16-20 hours per week (usually afternoons Mon-Thurs)
Pay: £12.50 per hour

Job Description
Benefits include: free lunch, training opportunities such as gaining Food Hygiene Certificate, reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
Manage the day to day coordination of volunteers on the ground. Rotating in volunteers on a weekly basis. Arranging cover or rotating shifts where necessary.
Provide induction and training on the ground or over the phone for volunteers in food hygiene for Covid 19 and delivery protocol. (There are policies in place for this).
Organise despatch of food parcels and hot food deliveries across the week. This may involve delegating tasks to volunteers.
Help to prepare hot food and general food parcels for delivery including labelling with addresses and allergy labels.
Manage the adding in of other items such as ambient food or baby products as per the delivery lists.
Organise and group lists of addresses for delivery, taking into account distances and timings.
Assign volunteers to deliveries in accordance with method of transport, capacity and availability.
Undertake food deliveries when needed or run pick ups of surplus food as and when needed.
Assist with cooking tasks in the kitchen where appropriate and reasonable.
Some manual handling involved- training can be provided and equipment provided where needed.
Use of personal phone to manage volunteers and deliveries.
Person Specification:
IT literate with experience of using email, Excel spreadsheets, printing and photocopying.
Excellent communication skills and ability to talk to people from a range of different backgrounds.
Accurate editing & proofreading skills.
Sensitive and aware of issues around GDPR and data protection.
Be mindful of some of the issues around food poverty, local community and working with families and vulnerable residents.
Be willing to undertake training where appropriate such as: safeguarding, data protection, manual handling and food hygiene.
Willing to undertake a full identity check, provide references and, if appropriate, a DBS check.
Own transport desirable : car or bike. Or willing to drive or operate one of HLP’s vehicles.
