Chana masala and kisuri cook-along

Join Joba, food ambassador and chef to learn how to make these classic Bengali dishes: chana masala(spicy chickpeas) and kisuri (savoury pudding rice and lentil dish). Joba has recently started her own catering business called ‘Busy kitchen’ (instagram @busy_kitchen_2020). She loves to cook foods from different cultures and specialises in Indian cooking. The first 10 members to sign up get a free recipe pack. The event is free to everyone.

You will need the following ingredients for this class:

Kisuri (serves 4) 

1 cup of basmati rice

Half a cup of red lentils

Half a tablespoon of chopped fresh ginger

1 onion

Quarter a teaspoon of turmeric

1 bay leaf

1 tablespoon of oil

 

Chana masala 

1 tin of black chickpeas (or regular chickpeas)

1 large onion

1 large potato

2 tomatoes (or half a tin)

2 cloves of garlic

1/2 a tablespoon of ground coriander

1/2 a teaspoon of turmeric

1/2 a teaspoon of chilli powder

1 tablespoon of oil

Lemon juice (optional)

Fresh coriander

Fresh chilli (optional)

Salt to taste

 

You will need the following equipment:

Chopping board and knife

2 medium saucepans

Wooden spoon

Teaspoon and tablespoon
